The Longstreet Clinic

Situation
The Longstreet Clinic is a large medical practice in Gainesville, Georgia that encompasses doctors of various specialties. As each doctor’s practice grew, so did his or her need for space. By 2001, the large practice had outgrown the existing offices and was in dire need of additional space.

Working with Wieck Construction Co., LLC from Nashville, Tennessee, the medical group began drafting a plan to build an extension onto their current building. Wieck Construction put out a request for bids for the new building’s HVAC system. Conditioned Air Systems responded with a fair, competitive bid and won the contract.

Solution
When Conditioned Air won the bid they could not have know the special circumstances they would have to struggle with during the project. The events of September 11, 2001 made procuring the needed materials difficult. Expediting the project throughout a time of national emergency forced Conditioned Air Systems to improvise and adapt to changing circumstances.

Since procuring the needed materials took longer than originally expected, Conditioned Air Systems technicians were also forced to complete the installation of the HVAC system in a timely manner.

Results
Despite the special circumstances under which Conditioned Air Systems had to complete the Longstreet Clinic building, they completed the project on time and on budget, and the building was ready for its scheduled opening date. Conditioned Air Systems technicians worked with the general contractor to seamlessly finish the project.

The success of the new building became clearly evident when The Norton Agency, the property management company for The Longstreet Clinic, hired Conditioned Air Systems again through Wieck Construction to update portions of the 15-year-old HVAC system on the current Longstreet building. The old building needed to be updated with a more efficient heating and air conditioning system.

The existing medical offices provided special concerns for technicians during installation. The work schedule had to be flexible in order to work around the office schedule, and the cleanliness of the medical offices had to be maintained at all times.

Overall, Conditioned Air Systems was able to deliver quality, competitively priced HVAC systems for both buildings that were efficient, thereby saving the medical group money in energy costs and less down time from the old equipment. (top)
